Dr. Jason Werle is a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Calgary and an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Rockyview General Hospital, where he has practiced since 2000. His clinical focus is lower extremity arthroplasty (joint replacement) and single limb trauma surgery.
Dr. Jason earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1994, followed by an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the same institution. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1999 and completed an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Stanford University in 2000.
Throughout his career, Dr. Jason has held numerous leadership roles, including Site Chief of Surgery at both the Health Resource Centre and Rockyview General Hospital, Program Director for the University of Calgary Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program, and currently serves as Senior Medical Director of the Bone & Joint Health Strategic Clinical Network for Alberta Health Services. He is also the current Head of the Section of Orthopaedic Surgery for the University of Calgary and AHS Calgary Zone, and serves as President of the Canadian Arthroplasty Society.
Raised on a farm near Langenburg, Saskatchewan, Dr. Jason credits his upbringing for instilling the values of hard work and optimism. Outside of medicine, he enjoys golf, curling, hiking, biking, boating, and cheering on the Calgary Flames — while his lifelong support of the Saskatchewan Roughriders has taught him patience.
