Dr. Joan Wheat-Hozack

Dr. Joan Wheat Hozack is a general orthopaedic surgeon practising in Lloydminster. She completed her medical degree at the University of Calgary, followed by an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Calgary. She then undertook an additional year of advanced fellowship training in Christchurch, New Zealand, gaining extensive experience in trauma surgery, joint replacement (arthroplasty), sports knee surgery, and hand and wrist conditions.

Dr. Wheat Hozack practices general orthopaedic surgery across a broad range of conditions, with the exception of spine surgery and orthopaedic oncology. Her current clinical practice focuses primarily on trauma care, hip and knee arthroplasty, and sports-related knee surgery, with a smaller component of hand and wrist surgery and elective paediatric orthopaedic care.

She is committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centred care, with a strong emphasis on functional recovery, attention to detail, and spending adequate time with patients. She values building strong patient physician relationships and prioritizes patient satisfaction through clear communication, thoughtful decision-making, and individualized care.

  • Knee reconstruction & arthroscopy: ACL and MPFL reconstruction (hamstring autograft), meniscal repair and debridement
  • Tendinopathy: Achilles, patellar, lateral epicondylitis, De Quervain’s
  • Nerve releases: carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel
  • Hand & wrist: trigger finger release, Dupuytren’s fasciectomy/fasciotomy, ganglion excision, thumb CMC trapeziectomy, ulnar shortening osteotomy
  • Foot: Morton’s neuroma excision
  • Hardware removal

Dr. Daniel Pincus

MD, PhD, FRCSC

Dr. Daniel Pincus is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery, including complex primary procedures and revision joint reconstruction.

He is known for particular expertise in minimally-invasive hip and knee replacement techniques, including hip resurfacing, DAA hip arthroplasty, and partial and total knee replacement, and has performed more than 3,000 of these procedures. Dr. Pincus serves as Fellowship Director for the Sunnybrook Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Fellowship Program, where he is actively involved in surgical training and education.

During his training and early career, he received several prestigious honours, including the Lawson Family Most Outstanding Graduate Award from the University of Toronto Orthopaedic Surgery Program and the Bernie Langer Award from the University of Toronto Department of Surgery, recognizing the most promising early-career surgeon.
