Cory Kwong

MD, FRCSC

Dr. Kwong is a dual fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon in the Divisions of Sports Medicine Knee and Shoulder Surgery at the University of Calgary. His hospital practice is out of the South Health Campus where he provides both orthopedic trauma and subspecialty sports medicine care. Dr. Kwong’s offsite clinic practice has been at Access Orthopedics since 2023 where his subspecialty practice focuses on arthroscopic and open treatment of acute and chronic injuries to the shoulder and knee.

Dr. Kwong obtained his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. He then returned home to Calgary to complete his Orthopedic Residency training at the University of Calgary. This was followed by two fellowships. First, a Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the renowned Southern California Orthopedic Institute (SCOI) in Los Angeles, California. While at SCOI he was trained by some of the pioneers and leaders in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy. He then completed a Complex Knee Surgery Fellowship through the University of Toronto at Canada’s largest trauma centre, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Dr. Kwong’s research interests focus on Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery. His clinical research has been the recipient of several research grants and awards and has been published in the top Orthopedic Sports Medicine Journals.

Dr. Kwong is an avid skier and grew up travelling the world training and competing in alpine ski racing. These days, when he is not in the operating room or clinic he can be found with his young family on the slopes, trails or the water. His personal and athletic endeavours have given him a deep understanding of the patient experience and process when faced with an orthopedic injury.
