Frequently Asked Questions About Private Arthritis Surgery

Who is a good candidate for private arthritis surgery?
Surgery may be considered when arthritis causes ongoing pain, stiffness, or mobility limitations that do not improve with physiotherapy, medication, injections, or other conservative treatment. You may be a candidate if daily activities become difficult, if movement is restricted, or if joint damage is visible on imaging. Through Gateway, you meet with an arthritis surgery specialist who reviews your history and imaging to determine whether a surgical option is appropriate.
Recommended procedures depend on the severity and location of joint damage. Options may include joint resurfacing, joint replacement, debridement, or minimally invasive techniques that remove damaged tissue or stabilize the joint. Your private arthritis consultation will outline the procedure best suited to your condition and activity needs.
Recovery varies based on the joint involved and the type of procedure performed. Many patients begin early, guided movement to support mobility and joint strength, followed by a gradual return to daily activities. With private arthritis care, your post-operative plan can be coordinated to include physiotherapy, progressive movement, and follow-up appointments to support a safe and comfortable healing process.
All surgical procedures carry some risk, though complications are not common. If concerns arise after your procedure, Gateway will help you navigate them. Your surgeon will provide follow-up care as needed, and our team remains available to answer questions and support your recovery.
